Data is processed and stored in the browser profile. No Cognitive Ledger account; no extension-operated cloud ledger; no analytics SDK in the extension.
What is stored
- Domains only (for example
example.com) — not full URLs, paths, or search queries. - Session timing, tab and domain switches, revisit counts, and simple on-device scores (cognitive cost, fragmentation).
- A coarse intent guess from domain rules, plus any labels you add in settings.
- Outcomes you choose (success, partial, failed) for finished sessions.
What is never stored
- Page titles, page text, forms, keystrokes, or screenshots.
- Incognito activity (ignored by design in this version).
- Data sent to our servers — the extension does not operate a backend for your ledger.
Where it lives
Data stays in your browser’s local storage for that profile. If you use Export in the extension options, you download a file you control — for your own backup or analysis.
Optional bookmark import
If you use import-from-bookmarks, the browser may ask for bookmark access. Only hostnames from bookmark URLs are suggested for your domain → intent map. Bookmark titles are not stored in the ledger, and nothing is synced to us.
Optional Tranco / CSV
Pasting a CSV is processed only on your device. If you fetch a list from tranco-list.eu, the browser may ask for permission to reach that site; the file is used only to suggest domains for your map — not sent to Cognitive Ledger servers.
Your control
You can clear ledger data or reset options from the extension at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes its stored data from that browser profile unless you have kept an export file elsewhere.
